Making pots is about evolution. As long as I feel my work is progressing, then I don't worry.

If I notice that certain elements of production are not working, then I lose interest. When the boss gets bored, there is trouble. Not long ago, I tried to maintain control over surface and glaze. In reaction to that I have gravitated toward a looser way of making pieces and glazes that I could not control if I tried. Perhaps the wood kiln, with its own tendency toward variation has nudged me in this direction. I am continually reinventing my line of work to keep the pieces fresh and alive. This gives me more freedom to grow. There is a saying, "At the point of origin lie the most possibilities." My goal is to keep enough freshness in my work to allow those possibilities to take form.
