Downey Woodpecker: The Downey ranges from Alaska to the southern US. Its habitat is forests, woodlots, river groves, orchards and shade trees. This piece was carved for the 2002 White House Chridtmas tree and was mounted on a piece of cherry wood bark. The bird is life size and was positioned vertically in order to be suspended from a limb of the tree as an ornament.
About this Gallery: The birds carved by the artist are life size and range from hummingbirds to eagles in flight and include immatures, song birds, hawks and upland game birds. Many of the works shown in these photos are in private collections. However they do represent the variety of carvings that can be created upon request. |
