Description

Ann Oakes grew up in the 60’s with creative music happening and crafters making macrame plant and wall hangings. She found a pamphlet with directions on how to make coil baskets. Caught up in the spirit, she made a few for fun but was unable to devote herself to such a time-consuming activity. Fast forward to 2018 and retirement on the horizon. She decided to try her hand again at making coil baskets and soon realized she loved it. She dedicated a year to honing her craft and realized that she had found her creative path. She started crafting baskets with flowers and beautiful motifs and then discovered that they could also be hung as wall décor. Her baskets are made with rope and yarn. Ann suggests stashing just about anything in the baskets, but wet items are inadvisable. Or… just display them on a wall or shelf. Not only are they utilitarian, but each basket is a unique work of art!
