In addition to crafting complex fine jewelry boxes which could contain well over 100 pieces, Jeff also enjoys bending one of the simplest boxes perfected by the Shakers. The Shaker oval box uses only four pieces of wood, assembled solely with copper tacks and wooden pegs. The box sides are formed by bending thin wood strips after boiling them in water. Jeff makes the box sides from maple, cherry, walnut, curly maple, birdseye maple and sycamore.
