I love pattern and color and the way in which they interact. This is why I love weaving so much - it lets me play while creating. I feel that the act of weaving and making artifacts from my woven cloth encompasses all of my interests and keeps me engaged in a very fundamental way. I am always learning and constantly work to incorporate new ideas into my work.
Paula is originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She studied art history at Wellesley College and upon receiving her B.A. moved to New York City to study woven design for 2 years at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She became a member of Southern Highland Craft Guild in 2008 while living in Nashville, TN and subsequently moved to the Asheville area in 2014. She is an active gardener and yoga practitioner and loves being in the mountains with her 3 dogs and a cat. All of these things compliment and feed the direction of my artwork so that it continues to grow and develop.
