Social Media Manager (Part-Time)

15 Hours Per Week (2 Days Weekly + Required Event Coverage)

Position Summary

The Social Media Manager is responsible for planning, creating, and managing the Southern Highland Craft Guild’s social media presence across all platforms and growing relationships with regional craft organizations. This role promotes the Guild’s mission, membership, shops, educational programming, exhibitions, and special events while helping expand the Guild’s digital reach and engagement. This person is also responsible for encouraging Guild Members to participate on social media.

The ideal candidate is highly creative, organized, fluent in current social media trends, and passionate about storytelling through photography, video, and written content. This position serves as the Guild’s day-to-day voice on social media and collaborates closely with the Creative & Outreach Director on marketing strategy and branding.

Schedule

  • Part-time, 15 hours per week
  • 2 scheduled workdays per week (flexible)
  • Required attendance (or have someone to cover you) at Guild special events

Social Media Management

  • Plan, create, schedule, and publish engaging content across all Guild social media platforms promoting Guild programs, artists, exhibitions, events, shops, and educational initiatives.
  • Respond to comments and messages as appropriate and help foster an active online community.
  • Monitor social media performance and recommend improvements based on analytics.

Content Creation

  • Capture high-quality photography and video using an up-to-date smartphone.
  • Document Guild events, demonstrations, exhibitions, artist features, and behind-the-scenes moments.
  • Coordinate with Guild staff and artists to gather content throughout the year.

Marketing & Digital Strategy

  • Collaborate with the Creative Director on:
    • Social media strategy
    • Advertising recommendations
    • Content planning
    • Campaign development
    • Audience growth initiatives
  • Participate in discussions regarding platform trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Recommend and manage social media partnerships, influencer collaborations, and cross-promotional opportunities.
  • Assist in developing strategies that increase engagement, followers, website traffic, and event attendance.
  • Help identify opportunities for partnerships with tourism organizations, regional businesses, media outlets, and community organizations.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts for a business, nonprofit, organization, or brand.
  • Strong understanding of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
  • Excellent written communication and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to capture attractive photo and video content using a updated smartphone.
  • Comfortable appearing at public events and interacting with artists, members, and visitors.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines.
  • Creative thinker who stays current on social media trends and best practices.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Required Equipment

  • Current smartphone with a high-quality camera capable of capturing professional-quality photos and video.
  • Ability to utilize social media apps, basic editing software, and scheduling platforms efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Canva, CapCut, or similar design and video editing software.
  • Photography and videography experience.
  • Experience running or assisting with paid social media advertising campaigns.
  • Knowledge of influencer marketing and social media partnerships.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to attend events.
  • Presence in the office at least 1 day a week.
  • Quick response time to social media messages throughout the week.
