Description
Arashi shibori is a method of wrapping cloth on a pole, scrunching it down along the length of the pole so it is in tight gathers, then dyeing it. Indigo does not penetrate the folds, so random width diagonal stripes result. The silk scarf was first wrapped on a pole and dipped in a light indigo bath, then marbled in a feather pattern with handmade red and yellow ocher and ultramarine blue paints.
