Colorful handmade paper birdhouse ornament by artist Claudia Lee of Liberty, Tennessee. Each birdhouse is one-of-a-kind, handcrafted, and made with decorative papers. Claudia uses many traditional textile techniques in her work, such as batik, stitching, layering, collage, and pattern-making. Expect slight variations. Each is sold separately. Description
Claudia is a studio artist, designer, consultant, author, and instructor working in handmade and decorated paper. Her work is in many public and private collections. The foundation of her work is the custom paper she designs and makes in her studio, especially for her book covers, ornaments, notecards, etc. The papers are made from either abaca or cotton tag. The materials are pulped in a Hollander beater and sized, with a water-resistant emulsion added to protect the surface. Wax resist and pigments add color and patterns to the paper. Claudia uses many traditional textile techniques in her work, such as batik, stitching, layering, collage, and pattern-making.
